Martin Scorsese is certainly a renowned filmmaker. On the other hand, Bong Joon-ho is an exceptional filmmaker but also a comfortable fashion icon. As we enter, you can say the third decade of the Marvel vs. Martin Scorsese wars. So, we absolutely do not expect to know what any famous director reminisces regarding iconic superhero movies. But the situation is different when we talk about the Parasite director Bong Joon-ho. Why so? Since we feel his reason for the raised subject regarding Marvel Superhero costumes is well quite practical, i.e., comfortable fashions.
What Did He Comment?
Recently, the longtime distributor and founder of Neon Films Tom Quinn and Bong Joon-ho both chatted with Variety. During the conversation for a recent cover story, it was natural that the issue of Marvel movies pops up.
The South Korean filmmaker said though he respects all the creative work and efforts put in these superhero movies yet, he has one personal problem with them. Because not just in films but also in real life, he does not acknowledge people who wear tight-fitting garments. He personally, too, does not prefer to wear anything like that, and merely noticing somebody in the body-hugging clothes is like mental torture. He feels awkward as well as suffocated on seeing someone with such clothes. As well all know well that the majority of the superheroes wear tight costumes; thus, he does not wish or can ever direct one such movie in his life. In fact, he believes that no one will ever offer him the film project with such a concept. Bong added that he would give a second thought to direct a movie on this genre only if the superhero of that story comfortably wears a boxy outfit.
Reactions On His Comment For Marvel Superhero Costumes
The logic behind Director Bong’s comment to avoid working on superhero movies good positive response. The lovers of comfortable fashion all around the world alongside members of the #BongHive fandom on online networking channels altogether accepted his reasoning. Superhero bodysuits, no matter how attractive they look, are still generally not that comfortable-looking piece of clothing.
Furthermore, possibly the director of a well-known movie like Snowpiercer, might like to helm a Doctor Strange film? The outfit of Sorcerer Supreme, as we witnessed, is not exceptionally form-fitting. And why not Hulk perhaps? Definitely, a prominent candidate for Director Bong, who stays mostly bare.
Bong Joon-ho further stated that presently, he is managing two new movies. One of them is in English while another in Korean. Well, the characters in both of these upcoming movies will wear loose-fitting garments.
Well, we all know, after all, comfort is above anything so, why not our very own favorite superhero figures wear the same. We adore them, support them, get motivated by them, so why not they put on something comfortable. Our love for superheroes will never end, no doubt. But seeing them in some impressive yet comfy outfit will also be an awesome idea.
