Children are like a lump of clay, and you can mold them in any form, for which there is a lot of evidence of gender stereotypes in school. Even during the first two years of the child, we can see the gender stereotypes. For example, if you go to a market to buy some candies. Thus, you will notice that the pink-colored candy will have a girl’s sticker, and blue colored will have a boy’s label. Hence, we differentiate the things between boys and girls initially. According to research, children can identify whether they are a boy or girl between the age of 2-3 years.

Children get aware of gender stereotypes at the beginning of school. For example, during school hours, they get a games period. Therefore. I the games period, the teacher will always take boys for outdoor games like baseball, basketball, football, rugby. On the other hand, girls will be taken to chess, dance, and cheerleading. Thus, the school sets a perception among children that boys can play outdoor games, and girls should play indoor games.

Moreover, if you will see the tiffin box of children, you can see the gender stereotype. If parents have two children, one boy, and one girl, therefore, the boy will always carry blue or red tiffin boxes and a water bottle. On the other hand, a girl will bring a pink tiffin box and a water bottle. Thus, as the children grew up, they become more mature. But children still have some biased thoughts among the opposite gender.

Television Shows, Cartoons, And Movies

Children love to see animated cartoons, movies, and shows. Hence, you will notice that the characters in these show that boys are more powerful. Therefore, you will the main character of the cartoon will be a boy who is very active in sports. Moreover, the boy will only ride the cars and bikes. Thus, it sets a wrong example in front of children that boys can play more sports. Moreover, these shows glorify the boy, his physical strength, on the other hand, girls are always shown studying and gossiping.

Therefore, if we take a look at the toy box, we can see gender stereotype. If parents want to gift toys to their boy child, they will use them a truck. On the other hand, they will gift their girl child a Barbie doll. Moreover, not only the parents, even the manufacturers differentiate between the toys. For example, you will see that on a toy truck, you will see a boy’s poster, and on a doll, you will always see a girl’s label.

Hence, we can conclude that these gender stereotypes are made from birth. Even the nipple colour for a boy will be blue, and a girl would be pink. Therefore, to break this stereotype, parents should take specific steps. Though kids nowadays have their own choices, still these stereotypes influence them.
